Sanford, Florida is a cultural hub with a broad range of activities for locals. There is the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Garden where families can spend the entire day watching the animals play. The Sanford Museum and Planetarium provide a wonderful place to learn about natural history and the planets. Just South of Lake Monroe is the Historic Sanford Memorial Ballpark where visitors can watch the Orlando Senior Baseball Team play. Many greats including Babe Ruth were frequent visitors to the park in the past.

 

Festivals and events

Downtown Sanford is filled with events each year including the Alive After Five event held every second Thursday of the month. It is a live street party with music, craft brews, games, and tons of food. There are also items from local artists to purchase. The Central Florida Soapbox Derby is part of the national event that has been running since the 1930's. This event is a local favorite, and the winners go to the National Championship at Derby Downs in Akron, OH.

Whether you like haunted tours, snorkeling, theater productions, or just laying around on the beach, there is always something happening in Sanford, Florida. Every Friday, locals visit the Sanford Farmers Market where they are treated to fresh produce, festive games, and live music. Experience Folk Art, cycling, walking, taking a ride on the zip line, or a tour of one of the breweries.
